HOUSING AFFAIRS
Access to safe housing is a matter of equality and should be at the forefront in the student interest fight. The standard rental price in the capital area is high and therefore important to guarantee students’ accessibility to safe lodging at a manageable and stable price.
-CONSTRUCTION OF STUDENT GARDENS-
RÖSKVA WANTS MORE STUDENT APARTMENTS
Röskva celebrates the construction of new apartment buildings and the shortening of the waiting list for student apartments. Around 11% of students at the University of Iceland now live in the student lodging of Icelandic Student Services which is much lower than in the Nordic countries. Röskva wants municipalities and the University of Iceland to support Icelandic Student Services in their objective to build more student housing and to provide a comparable amount of students access to the student lodging as is customary in the Nordic countries.
NEW APARTMENTS WITH ACCESSIBILITY
Röskva wants new student apartments to be accessible for wheelchair users. This increases accessibility for students in wheelchairs as well as making it easier for residents who have friends or family in wheelchairs to invite them over.
ACCESS TO EDUCATION FOR ALL
It’s necessary that the supply of student apartments suffices to ensure that all students can study and that special consideration is shown to students that are dealing with difficult social conditions, international students and more groups.
-FACILITY-
MORE HALLS IN APARTMENT BUILDINGS
The club in Brautarholt has come into good use for students. Rösvka wants similar facilities to be placed in new apartment complexes. Röskva also wants all students to be able to rent halls, across apartment complexes.
STUDENT COMMUNITY
Röskva wants student apartment complexes to be designed so that a positive social environment, or a “campus” feeling, is created.
COMMUNITY CENTRE FOR STUDENTS
Röskva proposes the creation of a free community centre for university students which would contribute to healthy social bonds between students, not connected to the standard nightlife entertainments, but strengthens the university community.
WASTE SORTING IN STUDENT LODGING
Röskva proposes that students that live in the student lodging should be able to deposit bottles and cans in the vicinity and receive payment in return.
